Overnight Trips

Bocas del Toro

If you have an extra day or two, Bocas del Toro is a must. Bocas is an old banana shanty town on the Caribbean ocean that has emerged as one of Panama's most interesting destinations. An archipelago of jungled islands and towns built largely on stilts over the water, life in Bocas is uniquely aquatic. There is plenty to do in Bocas, with a surprising array of quality restaurants, hotels and nightlife for such a small and out of the way place.

San Blas Island

While it is possible to see San Blas in one day from Panama City, we highly recommend staying a few days. If you are comfortable with very basic accommodations, you can stay on the islands themselves for a unique Panamanian experience. For families with a little time, one of the best ways to see the islands is to charter a sailboat. We've sent quite a few guests on San Blas charters, and more than once we have been told it was the trip of a lifetime.

Azuero Peninsula

The Azuero Peninsula is like Costa Rica's Guancaste Province 25 years ago. If your priority is surfing, fishing and getting as far away as possible, the Azuero Peninsula is perfect.
